What’s
the first thing that comes to mind when you hear Disaster Strike?
Mayhem, insanity, mass uproar, carnage, perhaps total anarchy?
Well, here is what you get: pure, unhinged, backbreaking, skull-crushing
heavy metal. Disaster Strike is a band based on the idea that
heavy metal is the most energetic and emotional form of music
on the planet. This is not just another metal band; this is a
release of pure fury, straight up energy that pours directly from
the guts and the souls of the insane humans that create it. This
is not a band to be taken lightly, only the bravest of metal legions
will hail to Disaster Strike, and they will hail loudly! The only
statement from this band is that it is time for metal to rule!!
Originally
created by vocalist Jay Sherman, drummer Mike Morrissey, and
guitarist Matt Cece, the trio quickly began creating the sound
that would become Disaster Strike. Soon, bassist Beto Grillo
joined forces to crank the low end, and as time went, the band
continued to develop as a metallic force to be reckoned with.
Influenced by metal bands of various tastes and forms such as
Dimmu Borgir, Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad, Pantera, Gwar,
Converge, and many, many more, the band developed a sound that
relates to all genres of heavy music. There are no boundaries,
no limits to what they can do and the band is constantly working
to take their sound to another level of destruction.
Out
of all this insanity brings us 11 songs of chaos that will bang
your head, raise your horns and bring you to your knees. This
is of course Disaster Strike’s first release entitled
“Deathbomb”, a self produced effort, with a name
that says it all. With no names, all songs are titled by number
in the order in which they were written. The album title is
enough to describe the songs, and the band feels that the music
can speak for itself. While Deathbomb is a metallic masterpiece
and a healthy debut for this quartet of mental cases, Disaster
Strike is poised to continue to bring chaos to the metal world.
There is no doubt that this band will break down every wall
and every barrier in its way, and show this world that metal
is God, and Disaster Strike is its prophet.
